What are essential oils?
This issue is about what essential oils are, and how they can create magic in your life, physically, emotionally, mentally and even spiritually.
Plants are Nature’s gifts to us for well-being. Have you ever rubbed a rose petal between your hands and relaxed simply by inhaling the soft scent? Or crushed some pine needles to breathe in the invigorating aroma? You just created your own essential oil.
Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts taken from the natural oil glands found in the flowers, leaves, bark and roots of plants (the photo shown is of a lavender oil gland). The natural components in essential oils are what the plant used to protect itself from threats to its health, to cleanse and repair breaks in its tissue, and to deliver oxygen and nutrients into its cells. When you use an essential oil, you are receiving the same benefits. Because each drop of essential oil has hundreds of different natural components, it may have many different beneficial effects. Very concentrated, a drop or two of therapeutic-grade essential oil produces quick and significant results.
